Hannah Lee, Research Analyst

Hannah Lee is a research analyst with Social Dynamics, LLC. Ms. Lee mainly does qualitative research analysis on Pathways to Career (PTC) programs and is also involved with evaluation of Disability Employment Initiative (DEI). Her responsibilities include report writing and editing, data collection, survey development and analysis, and site visit supports. Before joining Social Dynamics, LLC, she has done qualitative comparison analysis on international organizations and global development. Ms. Lee has MA in Political Science from San Diego State University and BA in Political Science from University of California, San Diego. She was awarded Provost Honors multiple times at UCSD and won Keith Behner scholarship at SDSU.

AMY ROWLAND, M.F.A.

Amy K. Rowland provides overall technical editing support on all deliverables and outgoing correspondences. She is responsible for formatting, editorial consultation, and the management of deliverable quality assurance. She is also responsible for Web site and social media management. Additionally, she has worked as an author on several reports for the Department of Labor and has also served as a Project Manager for a workplace flexibility synthesis report for the Women’s Bureau. Prior to her work at Social Dynamics, Ms. Rowland spent five years working for a global medical publishing company. Ms. Rowland received her B.A. in English with a concentration in writing from Towson University and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing & the Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore.

Dr. Aaron Searson, Ph.D.

Dr. Aaron Searson, Ph.D.

Dr. Aaron Searson has fifteen years of mixed-methods research experience impacting the social sector, particularly for disadvantaged urban populations.  As Research Associate at Social Dynamics, LLC, he supports the Disability Employment Initiative Evaluation of Rounds 5-7 and the Pathways to Careers Evaluation.  Dr. Searson has led multiple independent and collaborative studies, focusing on the youth-to-work transition and public education improvement. 

At the Philadelphia Youth Network, Dr. Searson led the evaluation Successful School-Based Partnerships: What Does it Take? in the School District of Philadelphia.  He also conducted an independent study exploring regional expansion of the advanced manufacturing pipeline.  Dr. Searson disseminated best practices regarding post-secondary pathways and alternative education to the mayor’s office and the field.  He developed several data collection tools and evaluation plans for local implementation and beyond, including for Grow Detroit’s Young Talent youth workforce development system.

Dr. Searson led coordination and data collection of the Early Reading Study, a multi-state Investing in Innovation Fund (i3) impact evaluation of the Children’s Literacy Initiative’s model classroom coaching and professional development program.  With the Out-of-School Time Resource Center, Dr. Searson completed an independent study to advise on improving transportation access for under-resourced Philadelphia youth interested in non-traditional, sports-based youth development programs.  With the Homeless Planning Council of Delaware, Dr. Searson crafted a statewide model for centralized intake of homelessness assistance, and built a comprehensive Salesforce database of Delaware county housing plans to be used for statewide planning.

Dr. Searson also contributed to seminal research on historical redlining in Philadelphia.  He has designed and coordinated urban youth and community development programming, including as an AmeriCorps member, as well as educational programs.  Dr. Searson served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses in leadership development, sustainable environments, and race, class, and gender in urban society.  He has produced multiple academic and professional presentations and publications, including a book review in the Journal of Urban Affairs.  Dr. Searson holds a PhD in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Delaware, an MA in Urban Studies from Temple University, and a BA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Patrick Sheehan, B.A.

Patrick Sheehan is a Research Analyst at Social Dynamics LLC with a background in quantitative research. He is a recent graduate of George Washington University and member of Psi Chi Psychology and Phi Beta Kappa Honors Societies. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from in Psychology with a Minor in Statistics. Mr. Sheehan’s current work includes support for site visits and outcome analyses for the Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) Evaluation, the Demonstration and Evaluation of the Short-Time Compensation (STC) Project and the Employment First Summative Evaluation. His responsibilities for these projects include report writing and editing, research, survey development and analysis, and site visits.

MELISSA WILLIAMSON, B.A.

Melissa Williamson, Research Associate

Melissa Williamson has been a Research Associate at Social Dynamics, LLC for six years. She has done research on flexible workplace policies, Latina employment, including historical immigration laws and policies, Individualized Learning Plans, State education reporting and testing, payroll data collection methods and technology, the Business Case for hiring persons with disabilities, the Disabilities Employment Initiative evaluation including researching and writing state economic profiles, disabled women veterans, the use of games as teaching tools for youth and adults with disabilities, Employment First legislation and policy changes, an Employment First Community of Practice survey, and State legislation changes under the Americans with Disabilities Act for projects with the U.S. Department of Labor. 

She also worked on the January 2011 ODEP-Women’s Bureau Forum, called Advancing Workplace Flexibility Policy and Practices, by contacting participants and taking notes for one of the discussion groups. She helped in establishing the Employment First state profiles on the Lead Center web site. For the payroll data collection project she worked in particular on the technology and computer sections, based on her previous work in electronics, and contributed to the final report.

Melissa was a Renaissance Scholar at Montgomery College where she completed her Associates degree. She is now working on her Bachelors in History and Asian Studies at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. While at Montgomery College she had an internship at the Library of Congress in the Poetry and Literature Office where she did research on authors, wrote press releases and letters, and helped with special functions including readings.
